Overview
We are Temple Beth Israel Shaare-Zedek, a small, vibrant Reform Judaism synagogue located in Lima, Ohio that functions with the intimacy of a chavurah. A part-time Rabbi has faithfully been our spiritual and educational leader for several years but now plans to relocate. We are seeking another part-time Rabbi to join us beginning July 1, 2020.
Our Jewish community in northwestern Ohio was established more than 100 years ago and is an inclusive, participatory and egalitarian blend of many Jewish traditions. Temple Beth Israel Shaare-Zedek is also the only synagogue for at least 50 miles in every direction and a focal point for Judaism in the region. Our congregation includes a wide spectrum of religious backgrounds, although we are predominantly Reform and Conservative. Our Synagogue is a place for both learning and celebration—Shabbat, D’var Torah, The Festivals, High Holidays, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and other life cycle events. In other words, we do things larger congregations do, just on a smaller scale.
