Overview
Job Requirements and Expectations:
Our Congregation has been utilizing the Zoom platform to continue activities remotely during this pandemic. We will be transitioning to a hybrid platform (Live/Remote) for the coming year.
Applicants should reside within a reasonable travel distance and be willing to do so as needed.
Shabbat Services:
• Conduct Bi-Weekly Shabbat Services on Friday nights and that closely align with observance of the Jewish Holidays
• Chanting of the relevant weekly Torah portion (Trope) for Shabbat services is expected.
• Comfort and experience with conducting a traditional Reform Judaism order of service
• Sermon or D’var Torah content and format are at the discretion of the Clergy.
• Candidates should have demonstrated practical experience with conducting services using Zoom
or other streaming platforms. (We have been streaming services on Zoom during the pandemic)
• Candidates should be willing and available to travel for on-site Shabbat services and adult Jewish learning programs when we reopen later this year.
Adult Education:
• Conduct our Adult Jewish Learning Program on Saturday mornings during those weeks with Shabbat Services. (except High Holidays)
• Format should be dynamic and engaging for participants.
• Subject matter and lesson presentation are at the discretion of the Clergy.
Pastoral Care and Other Duties:
• Review the Mishabeirach list each week and contact those members by either phone or email.
• Direct contact should be made with the affected individuals/family members as soon as possible.
• Conduct required life cycle events (weddings, funerals, conversions, etc) either in-person or remotely as needed.
• Minister to the overall spiritual needs of the congregation.
We are a 100+ year old Reform Congregation located in NW Ohio. We are a welcoming and very inclusive community and congregation which draws members from a wide area. Our congregants range in age from 40's-90's and we have also been able to attract an extended Zoom congregational family during this pandemic as well.
Candidate Qualifications
• Pulpit experience as a congregational Rabbi or Cantor.
• Experience and familiarity with the Mishkan T'Filah and Mishkan Hanefesh Siddurim.
• Ability to sing/harmonize with or without an accompanist.
• Experience with adult Jewish learning programs or teaching experience with adults in a Jewish or secular learning environment.
