Overview

B’nai Butte is a vibrant Jewish Community that is situated in the picturesque mountain/ski town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Our Jewish Community is small, but active, and devoted to an all-inclusive practice of Judaism. We are looking for someone comfortable leading a diverse congregation: Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, and Interfaith families. The group is made up of locals and second homeowners and the turn-out for events may be from 15 to 100 members. We are looking for a Rabbi or Cantor who will act as our Spiritual Leader and can share our passion and embrace our diversity. The community is looking for someone who could bring a combination of music, joy, and intellectual perspective to services, special events, and holidays. This is a part-time opportunity and does not require living in the community full time. This may be a perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys visiting the mountains!

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements: – Part-Time – Up to 8 visits to the community each year including: Tu B’Shevat, Purim, Passover, Summer months (June, July, and August), High Holidays, and Hannukah – Typical visits may include:  Friday night potluck Shabbat (at member’s homes), Friday or Saturday Shabbat Services, D’var Torah, Havdallah, Community outreach programs, discussions, and learning sessions, Outdoor activities such as hikes and services on the mountain – Able to lead, as well as to provide guidance and support for life events including B’nai Mitzvah, Weddings, Funerals/Shivas, Namings, etc. – Must be available to the Congregation and the community for Pastoral Care
