Overview

Agudath Achim Synagogue, a traditional synagogue in Little Rock, Arkansas, is looking for a cantor to perform services for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

About Us: We are recently a lay-led congregation. Our services are traditional, but our building has mixed seating. We are a small congregation, and generally, have over a hundred attendees for our Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana services and would like professional cantorial services to keep these High Holy Days special for our congregation as we continue our search for rabbinical leadership. While we are a small congregation, we are very passionate and spiritual! Agudath Achim will pay for your travel expenses as well as for your performance.

Key Accountabilities

• Excellent knowledge of the high holy day services and liturgy, including Hebrew liturgical skills and the ability to chant Torah
• Excellent vocal ability (if you have a recording, we would love to hear it!)
• Some experience performing cantorial services
• Perform all prayers in the worship services (Rosh Hashana is a morning service on the second day. Yom Kippur is a Kol Nidrei service on the eve and a daytime and concluding service on the day.)
• Ability to blow the shofar
• Ability to cooperate and plan the services with the lay-leaders.
• Lay-leaders can and will assist with the service
