Overview

Irvine Hebrew Day School is an independent Torah day school in Orange County, CA. In 2017-2018 we are in our fourth year of operation and will have four self-contained classrooms (K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-4th.) We will be adding one grade each subsequent year to become a K-8 school. Our approach to education is guided by a deep respect for children and a belief that joyful learning with positive discipline nurtures healthy emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth.
We are looking for Torah observant experiential Jewish educators with leadership skills, a pioneering spirit, and passion for elementary education. Candidates must be eager to develop a curriculum that transforms and elevates classroom learning and must promote a collaborative and collegial school culture in which students, teachers, and parents are heard and valued. Our Jewish educators are role models, imparting a love of Torah learning and living.

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with elementary school children in a classroom.
    Certificate in Jewish education and/or teaching credential.
    A love of working with elementary age children, attuned to the unique potential, educational and social needs of each student.
    Proficiency in spoken and written ivrit.
    Able to create engaging curriculum based on Hebrew fluency and Jewish text standards.
    Have 2+ years in-depth Jewish text study in an Orthodox institution.
    Have a passion for and experience in progressive education, including such areas as: child-centered learning, differentiated instruction, experiential and inquiry-based learning, varied models of assessment.
    Have the ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators from all backgrounds, as well as listen and incorporate the perspectives of others.
    Have the skills and disposition to work collaboratively with parents.
    Have comprehensive knowledge of elementary Limudei Kodesh programs.
    Possess creativity in curricular design.
    Have excellent communication skills.
    Lead ethically and with self-reflection.
    Committed to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.
