Position Summary:

The Rabbinic Innovation Fellow (RIF) and Campus Rabbi will work as part of the larger Penn Hillel team to creative innovative and transformative new ways to engage students in Jewish life and leadership on campus. The RIF will possess contagious Jewish passion, entrepreneurial energy, strong leadership, and networking skills. The RIF will work along with the larger Penn Hillel staff, Hillel International, and campus student leaders to create and experiment with new models of Jewish experience (that can include anything from community to prayer, from service to education) that will influence the future of American Judaism.

The Rabbinic Innovation Fellowship is an elite rabbinic training program situation at the Penn Hillel Center for Jewish Innovation. The Fellowship is designed for the best and brightest rabbis graduating rabbinical school. Goals of the program include helping rabbis begin their careers with a transformative professional experience focused on growth, training, and mentorship in ways that will enhance the Fellows capacity to lead and innovate in their future careers regardless of which area of rabbinic work they are interested in.

Fellows will get to train at Penn Hillel, one of the most advanced incubators of Jewish innovation in America and gain access to the full richness of the resources of the University of Pennsylvania (faculty and students), as well as the best mentors, funders, and teachers available today.

Training will focus on the cutting-edge methodologies for leadership and Jewish innovation, amplifying the Fellows ability to be change agents on campus and in adult Jewish organizations.

The ideal candidate for the RIF will possess contagious Jewish passion, entrepreneurial energy, strong leadership, and outstanding networking skills.

Components of the Rabbinic Innovation Fellowship:

1.      Signing Bonus and Onboarding: In order to maximize the initial success and impact of the RIF, Penn Hillel will offer the Fellows a generous signing bonus and a special compliment of professional development and site visits throughout the spring of 2019 in advance of the beginning of full-time work in the fall of 2019

2.      Work on Campus: The particular portfolio of work for the RIF will be customized based on the unique set of skills, interests, and goals of the professional. Work plans may include teaching, counseling and programmatic work with students, staffing of immersive experiences, participation in larger Penn Hillel team gatherings, and professional development

3.      National Networking and National Prominence: Penn Hillel and the Center for Jewish Innovation will help the RIF dramatically expand their professional network and national prominence. Fellows will have the chance to participate, lead, and teach sessions at Hillel International gatherings

4.      Career Pathing of Rabbinic Fellows: Mentors from the Jewish professional and for-profit sectors will help the Fellow chart out possible future career paths and help them gain the necessary experiences, relationships, and skills that will foster a career of deep meaning and high impact

5.      Professional Development Curriculum: Fellow will take part in a specially designed professional development curriculum that seeks to balance ongoing rabbinic identity formation with more technical leadership and innovation training

Qualifications & Educational Requirements:

Candidates for this position should be finishing rabbinical school in the spring of 2019 and prepared to begin full-time work in the fall of 2019.

Salary:

Salary is competitive with other Senior Jewish Educator positions including a comprehensive benefits package.
