Overview
Congregation Beth Tikvah is seeking a full time Rabbi to serve the membership. In addition to normal pulpit activities this should include support, counseling and mediating during all life cycle events, Jewish learning, interacting with all segments of the congregation and facilitating a more active congregation
Congregation Beth Tikvah (CBT) is the result of the consolidation of the Wantagh Jewish Center, Farmingdale Jewish Center (July 1, 2007) and the Israel Community Center (Jan 1, 2010). All three congregations had 50 plus years of history and were seeking to strengthen the Jewish population in southeastern Nassau County. The congregation enjoys the uniqueness of attracting second and third generation members.
Over the past two years the sanctuary and ballroom have been totally renovated. Plans are now being formulated for the renovation of the building’s exterior.
Quality neighborhood, convenient shopping, public schools and reasonable access to Hebrew Day Schools, availability of kosher products in local stores, easy access to Long Island Railroad, Highways, New York City (about 45 minutes by train), good local job market.
The Rabbi must be compatible with a conservative, egalitarian congregation. We use Siddur Sim Shalom and the Lev Shalem Machzor.
Housing Expenses - The congregation is responsible for all maintenance and repairs to the parsonage property including landscaping and snow removal costs. The parsonage is a four bedroom colonial house, with 2½ baths, a basement and an attached two car garage. It is approximately ½ mile north of the synagogue. We estimate that similar rental housing in the community would cost approximately $3,000 per month plus utilities ($500 per month). Housing prices in the community range from $350,000 to over $800,000 and real estate taxes range $10,000 to $20,000 per year.
