As a central platform and network, we train and support rabbinic leaders from all backgrounds and denominations, providing career growth, adaptive practice training, and evidence-based research to elevate the field of rabbinic leadership. With exponential growth in our programs and reach, we are entering the final year of our three-year strategic plan. At this pivotal stage, Atra is transitioning from a start-up to a structured organization, building the tools and systems to support sustainable, long-term impact.

The Director of Teaching and Learning is a newly created role central to shaping Atra’s educational vision, pedagogy, and program delivery, ensuring that we continue to provide transformative learning experiences for rabbis nationwide.

You’re both a strategic thinker and a detail-oriented doer, excited to develop and lead Atra’s distinct learning approach.

You bring experience in curriculum development, teaching, and faculty leadership, with a commitment to applied, practical learning. You’re eager to shape the future of rabbinic education and help rabbis lead Jewish communities with impact and intention.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development

  • Design and maintain a comprehensive, evolving curriculum library for Atra’s programs, ensuring all materials align with our mission and values.
  • Develop and implement Atra’s core pedagogical method, creating a distinctive and consistent approach across all learning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with partners and subject-matter experts to co-design content that addresses emerging trends and challenges in rabbinic innovation.

Faculty and Facilitator Development

  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor faculty and facilitators, fostering a collaborative teaching environment aligned with Atra’s standards of excellence.
  • Provide structured support for peer-facilitators, encouraging best practices in applied learning and cohort-based models.

Program Delivery and Leadership

  • Oversee the implementation of curriculum across Atra’s programs, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead and facilitate workshops, masterclasses, and other learning sessions, modeling Atra’s unique applied learning approach.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather participant feedback and iterate on programming to meet the needs of the field.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Programs and other team members to align learning initiatives with Atra’s strategic goals.
  • Serve as a thought leader, identifying and addressing trends and needs in Jewish education and rabbinic leadership.

Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Jewish Education or similar field. Rabbinic Ordination preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Jewish educator, with expertise in innovative curriculum design and program implementation.
  • Background in pedagogical development and applied learning methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of Jewish traditions, texts, and practices across denominations.
  • Experience facilitating discussions or leading initiatives in pluralistic spaces where diverse Jewish identities are represented, ensuring inclusivity and respect for different practices and beliefs.
  • Familiarity with trends and challenges in Jewish education, the American Jewish community, and rabbinic innovation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Comfortable working in hybrid and dynamic work environments, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Position Start Date: April 1, 2025

Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience
