About Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek
We have younger members in their twenties to 40s who work full-time and many widows and widowers who range from age 60-90’s. We have some physicians and many multi -cultured members, But only four children at this point, and we hope to attract more younger families so that we can restart a religious school on Sundays. We have an active board who makes sure the temple is kept maintained and functioning well. We are welcoming and open to all races, sexual orientations, and our rabbis usually work with conversion students. How are most active members tend to be those who had converted over the years . We have several area colleges within about 12-20 miles of Lima, including a large branch of the Ohio State University and Rhodes College, and students visit as frequently, as do other Community members. We always participate in the National Day of Prayer and other interfaith events in town, and like to provide Holocaust education for the community. We are a Jewish Legacy Project congregation. We are the center of Jewish life within a 60 mile radius.
