Welcome to RabbiCareers.com!

We are glad you are here! RabbiCareers.com is here to help communities and organizations find rabbis and for rabbis to find fulfilling positions.

Who are we, and where did we come from? We are happy to tell you. RabbiCareers.com is an outgrowth of Rabbis Without Borders, which itself is a program of Clal – The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership. That’s a lot of layers, isn’t it? Let me break them down.

Clal is a Jewish think tank, resource center, and leadership training organization. Creating an informed, engaged and dynamic Jewish life is Clal’s mission. A leader in pluralism for over 36 years, Clal offers innovative programs, classes, leadership training, and resources to strengthen communities and institutions. Bringing Jewish wisdom to a broad audience, our unique faculty provides cutting-edge tools and techniques to address contemporary challenges. Clal is dedicated to building vital Jewish life that is spiritually rich and engaged in the intellectual and ethical questions of the wider world.

Building on Clal’s mission, Rabbis Without Borders was founded in 2008 as a way to train rabbis to be innovative pluralistic leaders who can integrate ancient Jewish wisdom with the needs of people today. Since its founding, it has grown in to a diverse network of 200 rabbis who share Judaism in new, creative, and meaningful ways to serve anyone searching for a connection. To take a look at the rabbis in our network and what they are accomplishing, please visit our website.

In addition, we noticed that the rabbinic marketplace is changing. Almost fifty percent of the rabbinate is now employed in “non-pulpit” positions. These are jobs in non-profits, day schools, Hillel’s, chaplaincy, community organizing, and other new venues.  The role the rabbi can play in modern life is expanding, even growing beyond the traditional Jewish community. We want to support this expansion and help rabbis locate jobs in areas they may not have thought to look at before. Furthermore, employers may not have thought to look for a rabbi for some jobs, yet rabbis often have a unique skill set that can be useful in many positions. Need someone with strong analytic skills, the ability to work well with a variety of people, and who knows how to speak passionately for a cause? Well, you might be looking for a rabbi!

RabbiCareers.com is a clearinghouse for a multiplicity of rabbinic jobs in a variety of settings. Whether you are an employer or a rabbi, we hope that you will sign in and check back regularly. You can also sign up for alerts when new jobs are posted so that you get the latest information right in your inbox.

We will post questions you should ask each other, things to think about in your search for the right match, and best practices for hiring.  We hope you find this information helpful.

May your search for the right candidate or position end fruitfully!  You have come to the right place!
