Join Hillel International to set the course for Jewish and Israel education as the Vice President for Jewish Education.

As part of Hillel’s ground-breaking commitment to professional development and training, the Center for Jewish and Israel Education (CJIE) of Hillel U was launched in December 2016 as the largest and most central part of this comprehensive training initiative. The CJIE has significantly expanded the opportunities for Jewish educational training and professional development to ensure that all of Hillel’s 1200 professionals are equipped with Jewish ideas and skills to inspire the next generation of Jews.

As the VP for Jewish Education, you will guide the vision for and continue to build the CJIE. You will lead our organization in addressing how we help every Hillel professional, regardless of their role, feel confident and see themselves as Jewish educators.

You will be part of Hillel International’s growing and entrepreneurial Talent Team, which is dedicated to making Hillel a premier workplace and to attracting and investing in professionals at every Hillel on every college campus.  We are committed to trying new things, learning quickly, and collaborating with Hillel field professionals in the design and implementation of our programs.

As the VP, you will:

• Develop, articulate and promote a dynamic and innovative Jewish educational vision to ensure the Jewish fluency and confidence of Hillel professionals
• Lead the CJIE team to identify key topics and themes in Jewish life that should be addressed through the professional development and create inspiring approaches to Jewish and Israel education, whether online or in person
• Advocate for and influence a culture of Jewish education within the entire Hillel movement
• Manage a team of 4 people and a multi-million dollar budget in the planning and execution of excellent Jewish educational programs for Hillel professionals
• Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including lay leaders, field professionals at all levels, and partners organizations
• Steward and raise major philanthropic gifts to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of CJIE, including writing grant proposals and reports, and identifying new prospects

What you bring to the job:

• A track record as a dynamic leader with a compelling vision and ability to inspire and galvanize stakeholders to support and implement that vision
• Experience working in intensely pluralistic settings
• Experience in Jewish education program design, development, and implementation, particularly in informal/experiential settings and with adult learners
• Proven program management skills: You build plans and supervise people using clear objectives, milestones, and metrics
• Proven ability to assess the impact of learning initiatives around defined learning outcomes, and iterating based on data
• Experience juggling multiple projects and priorities in a complex environment
• A sense of humor
• Comfort with ambiguity and flexibility while working to help build an early-stage, evolving initiative
• Experience in or deep familiarity with the Hillel professional field preferred
• BA or equivalent required

More about Hillel U:

Hillel U officially launched in December 2016.  Hillel U has dramatically expanded upon existing professional development offerings at Hillel, establishing Hillel as a leader in professional development in the Jewish nonprofit sector, and, perhaps, in the nonprofit sector at large.  The conceptual design of Hillel U includes three “Centers of Learning” for Hillel professionals and one for volunteer leaders.  The first center to launch was the Center for Jewish and Israel Education.

Hillel’s Charles and Lynn Schusterman International Center (SIC) which has multiple offices throughout the world including in Washington, D.C., San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, New York and Jerusalem, helps local Hillels in the areas of institutional advancement, strategic planning, leadership development, fundraising, talent, fiscal administration, student engagement and communications.

Location:  We prefer to locate this new position in our Washington, D.C. office; and we are open to considering the location where you work best.
