Overview

Temple Sholom is a small (60-70 members), diverse, well-established traditional Conservative congregation located about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.  We seek a full-time rabbi to serve as our spiritual leader.  Candidates must have rabbinic ordination from an accredited Jewish seminary and must be willing to reside in our community.  Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, though not required.

 

Responsibilities include:

•Prepare and lead services on Friday nights, Shabbat mornings, and holidays, including liturgy, Torah reading and sermons

•Prepare students for Bar/Bat Mitzvah

•Teach conversion and adult education classes

•Post and maintain scheduled office hours

•Provide pastoral services to congregants who are ill, elderly, or bereaved

•Officiate as needed at baby namings, weddings, and funerals of members

•Support and work with Religious School principal

•Take a leading role in recruiting new members and maintaining current members

•Prepare a monthly report to the Board of Trustees

•Contribute articles to the Temple Bulletin

•Represent the congregation in the larger community
