Susquehanna University Hillel is looking for a High Holiday leader who can lead our community for both Rosh Hashanah (Erev and first day) as well as Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur services and programing.
Our students come generally from Reform, Conservative and unaffiliated backgrounds. They are looking for some traditional liturgy as well as the opportunity to discuss and process holiday themes. Creativity, discussion, and text learning highly appreciated. We expect a small group for the holidays and are looking for this group to be excited to engage in Jewish learning and practice over the course of the year.
A successful leader will be able to lead engaging services, help students approach, and engage with the holiday season in new ways. We will also have a variety of meals, which will both be a good chance to get to know our students and create learning moments. On Rosh Hashanah after lunch and services, we plan a short walk to do tashlich by our nearby river.
We plan on using Machzor Days of Awe (Velveteen Rabbi) and also have Lev Shalem to supplement. Happy to work with leader on supplemental packet as well.
