We are one of Boston’s oldest and most respected philanthropic organizations and we are currently seeking a Senior Director, Young Adults Engagement.

The Senior Director of Young Adult Engagement will have a key leadership role in our expanding young adult initiative. Seeking to connect more Young Adults (post college through age 45) to Jewish life, learning, and community, this position will be driven by considering how to best meet the evolving needs of the post-college community in Greater Boston. The Senior Director will help create and will be responsible for driving the Young Adult strategy for CJP, which plays the role of funder, convener, and programmer.

Sitting on the Jewish Learning and Engagement team, the Senior Director will oversee a team focused on young adults (including families with young children). The Senior Director will manage key projects, express a vision for this agenda, and work closely with the rest of the Jewish Learning & Engagement (JLE) team to create mechanisms for hand offs, synergies, and mutually reinforcing strategies between the various JLE components.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with JLE AVP, Director of Families with Young Children, and Associate Director of Young Adults on planning a new model of engaging Young Adults (Bridge to the Future) which will involve hiring connectors to serve the needs of niche young adult communities as well as investing more comprehensively in Young Adult programming.
  • Convene and be a resource for local partner organizations working with Young Adults, including but not limited to running Town Hall meetings and connecting organizations to consultants who can help with capacity building.
  • Serve as a resource to other CJP teams within the Planning Department and other departments on young adult needs and opportunities.To do this, stay abreast of current trends locally and nationally for young adult engagement.
  • Liaise with national partner organizations.
  • Oversee the grants and allocations process for organizations receiving funding to serve Young Adults, including drafting and negotiating grant agreements, ensuring compliance with measurement requirements and information requests. Serve as point person on team for evaluation of young adult programs. Partner with the Associate Director of Measurement and Evaluation to determine how to best measure the impact of this work.
  • Overseeing the creation of a database to better serve Young Adults; keeping attuned to relevant technological innovations.
  • Manage Associate Director of Young Adults as well as the Director of Families with Young Children.
  • Work in close and effective collaboration with the JLE team, integrating and partnering where appropriate
  • Work with Young Adult Planning and Development staff to support all young adult programming, make strategic decisions about where to spend resources, and determine new areas of innovation and investment
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with multiple internal and external constituencies to support implementation of strategies
  • Oversee the Young Adult budget, in partnership with the Associate Director, Jewish Learning & Engagement
  • Work with Development and Donor Relations as needed to strategize about donor proposals and stewardship
  • Strategize and implement new initiatives arising out of strategic planning
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education:

  • B.A. or equivalent; MA preferred

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • Strong track record of effective:
    • project management
    • working with lay leaders
    • management of staff

Skills/Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the Boston young adult community
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at one time
  • Proven ability to plan, implement and measure strategies and programs
  • Understanding of how to use technology to network and engage others
  • Creativity, resourcefulness and capacity for innovation
  • Comfort with all aspects of budget management
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, Facebook, and other internet technologies
  • Proficiency with database management software.
  • Self-starter with a high level of energy
  • Flexible team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfort working in and with volunteer-driven organizations
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities

Other:

  • Availability for evening and/or weekend events/meetings
  • Requires access to a car and the ability to travel to outside meetings and sites
