  • Prepare and lead High Holy Day services
  • Support PSC’s youth and adult education programs, including working directly with b’nai mitzvah students
  • Work with our President, Board of Trustees, committees, office staff, and lay leadership to support synagogue operations and communication with membership

Qualifications:

We are looking for an interim rabbi who will be a partner to our cantor and leadership team; someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves to spend time and engage with our diverse community, someone who will support the education of our members, and someone who will help engage our community during this time of transition for us.

Successful candidates will have ordination from an accredited rabbinic school (e.g., JTS, Ziegler, Hebrew College, AJR, etc.) and prior pulpit experience as assistant or senior rabbis, experience in pastoral care, and strong administrative skills. We are seeking an interim rabbi who leads and follows egalitarian Conservative Jewish halacha, and whose own religious practices can be a model for our community. Our traditional services are conducted almost exclusively Hebrew, using both traditional nusah and new melodies.

Position Start Date: June 1, 2022
Benefits:

We offer a competitive base salary along with options for health and disability insurance. PSC owns a parsonage house ¾ of a mile from the synagogue, which would be available to the interim rabbi and their family.

About Peninsula Sinai Congregation

PSC is a close-knit and welcoming community, joyful and passionate about our Judaism in every way. We sing, learn, and love being in each others’ company. We are actively engaged with each other and with our greater community, in worship, Jewish education, and Israel. We support one another during the sacred moments of our lifespans. Whether traveling to attend a fellow congregant’s grandson’s Bar Mitzvah or teens being present for shiva minyanim of older congregants, we show up for each other, both within the walls of our shul and beyond.

We are an egalitarian congregation deeply rooted in tradition and Conservative Judaism while also able to innovate and stretch. We are traditional, informal, and inclusive. We care about Israel. We value learning across the generations. From text study to meditation, from Hebrew to Musar, we provide multiple entry points for congregational learning, and we do so collaboratively.

We enjoy active interaction and engagement with our clergy on many levels and in different settings. Our ~330 member unit community continues to take pride in the relevance and warmth of our motto: “Large enough to serve you. Small enough to know you.”
