Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center (PJTC) is seeking an interim senior rabbi. The position is a full-time, one-year contract which will begin July 1, 2023.

JEWISH EDUCATION: We offer youth and adult educational programs through both regular classes and pop-up learning events, B’nai Mitzvah preparation, one-on-one tutoring, and our engaging religious school. PJTC also shares its campus with B’nai Simcha Preschool.
HISTORY: PJTC proudly celebrated 100 years in 2021 and 2022. Over many years, other congregations in the San Gabriel Valley have merged with us. We have become the leading conservative synagogue in the area with a varied, rich and continually growing community.

The following lists the essential functions of the interim rabbi role:
* Religious services – work with PJTC’s Cantor (Ruth Berman Harris) to deliver meaningful and relevant Shabbat services on Friday night and Saturday morning, as well as on the Hagim/Holy Days based on the Jewish calendar used by the Conservative Movement.
* B’nai Mitzvah – In collaboration with Cantor, work with B’nai Mitzvah families during the process of preparing for the ceremony, and help the students with their Divrei Torah.
* Bikkur Holim – provide pastoral care to congregants as needed.
* Personal support – provide counseling and emotional support for the community as needed.
* Life-cycle events – officiate at weddings, brit milah ceremonies, funerals and other functions as needed in coordination with clergy.
* Education – support the Education Director (Rabbi Aimee Gerace) as needed and potentially participate in adult education programs.
* Community Building – promote a sense of community within the congregation and between PJTC and the broader community. Foster opportunities for Tikkun Olam.
Qualifications: Rabbinic ordination required. Experience as interim/full-time rabbi.
