Congregation Beth Shalom of Brandon Florida is looking for a part-time Rabbi effective July 1, 2021.  Congregation Beth Shalom is a small Reform congregation of 50 individuals and families and located in a suburb of Tampa Florida.  We are affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism and are seeking a Rabbi dedicated to Jewish values, to serve the greater Brandon Jewish community.

The compensation package for a part-time Rabbi is $30,000 to $40,000 based on experience, inclusive of, salary/parsonage, health insurance. pension, relocation, travel expenses, and professional development, as necessary.

Rabbi Qualifications: Ability to work effectively with and utilize the talents of lay leadership b. Vision and executional strategy for growth in membership of the congregation with particular attention to reaching out to young families and families with children for the Hebrew school c. Willingness to engage in fundraising on behalf of the congregation d. Expertise in external relations for a small-sized congregation in a suburban community e. Vision for strategic engagement in community-based activities, organizations, and events f. Expertise and experience working with preschool and religious school education and working with children as well as with teens, youth groups, and NFTY g. Scholarly and leadership skills for engaging adults in Jewish growth programs h. Experience with Jewish social action organizing within congregations i. Expertise working with interfaith families educationally, programmatically and pastorally j. Openness to performing same-sex and interfaith marriages and life-cycle events k. Effective leadership skills to work with the volunteer board of directors at the congregation

Brandon Florida is a community east of Tampa. It is a very fast growing area with excellent schools and great shopping.

c. Ability to present oneself as open-minded, humble, and appreciative of people and the diversities they bring to our community

d. Follow the principles and values of Reform Judaism in his/her own life

e. Ability to perform pastoral skills with spiritual meaning including life cycle events

f. Capacity to form close relationships with congregants

g. Ability to offer pastoral counseling to people at all points in the life cycle

h. A demeanor that is approachable and flexible

i. The vision and skills to create a cohesive unity within our congregation

j. Experience performing spiritually engaging and nurturing Jewish rituals including liturgical knowledge, sermon writing, and sermonizing

k. Ability to read Torah and teach and train others to read Torah

l. Creatively nurture the spiritual growth of our members and of our community
