Overview

DarshanYeshiva.org, a distance learning based conversion to Judaism program with Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Renewal and Post-Denominational rabbis, cantors and educators is seeking a conversion to Judaism rabbi or cantor in the UK and/or Germany.

This role provides conversion to Judaism education to adult learners via the internet. Educators work with students in-person or via Skype using our course materials. This role is very mentorship-based, helping students learn not only Judaics but also what it means to be a part of the Jewish community.

We are primarily based in the USA, but we also have rabbis in Italy and Canada. There is great demand for conversion in the UK and Germany, and we hope you will help make that possible.

Educators are required to help students with bet din and mikvah once they have completed their 10-month course. Educators do not have to facilitate brit milah. Educators do not have to travel for work.

We want our educators to focus on the students, which is why we compensate on a per student, per month basis. Educators are able to charge what they would like.

Qualifications:
  • Orthodox, Masorti, Reform or Liberal smicha and position of good standing in your community and any relevant rabbinical councils/vaadot
  • Experience working with conversion to Judaism and adult education
  • Connection to a bet din and mikvah
  • Ability to adjust to new ways of providing education
  • Must have some working knowledge of email, Skype and an ability to work remotely with little supervision
  • Compassion and understanding for students who may have reached out to synagogues but been turned away due to lack of rabbinical support for conversion in general, lack of time/resources from the community or xenophobia
