Overview

Agudath Sholom Congregation in Lynchburg, VA is in need of a Rabbi.  Our long-term Rabbi recently died suddenly and unexpectedly.  It was at his suggestion that we work out a 9-month full-time with a flexible 3 months off.  This worked extremely well for us and we are looking for a similar working relationship.  This is a great opportunity for any Rabbi who values a work/life balance.

We are looking for someone who wants to help our congregation grow, inspire our children, and be a spiritual guide for all of our members.  We have Shabbat Services on Friday evenings, currently hybrid in-person and Zoom.

The responsibilities of this position are as follows:  conduct Shabbat, High Holy Day, and holiday services, officiate at life-cycle events, participate in the Religious School and prepare B’nai Mitzvah students, lead adult education classes and Shabbat morning Torah study, visit shut-ins and members who are ill, provide counseling, participate in Board of Administration and Committee Meetings, and be a representative of our congregation to the greater Lynchburg community.

Timing Expectations: We would expect our Rabbi to be available for all major Jewish holidays. Otherwise, the 3 months off are flexible.
