We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Conservative Rabbi to serve as spiritual leader and community guide for our congregation. This vital role involves fostering a vibrant Jewish life rooted in Conservative traditions, providing spiritual support, and strengthening community bonds. The ideal candidate will have the skills to read the Torah, deliver divrei Torah, provide leadership, and demonstrate a deep understanding of Jewish teachings to enrich the lives of congregants across all ages and backgrounds. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through religious education, pastoral care, and community engagement.

Type of service are you envisioning: Keep our traditional service, inspire congregants and maintain and seek members
How do you do Jewish : Our services follow Conservative movement, however, we are more traditional in that we read the full Torah portion, do not have instruments, daven full P'seukei d'Zimra, Shacharit with repetition of the Amidah, women are counted in minyan, offered aliyot beyond the first three and can also chant haftorahs and megillot; women are not shaliach tzibbur or gabai.

Timing Expectations: part-time position weekly Fri night services, Sat and Holiday services; minyans when available; schedule either in-person or zoom adult education, life-cycle events

Community Description:

Jericho Jewish Center is a traditional conservative synagogue located in Nassau County, Long Island, New York. It is located in the Town of Oyster Bay on the North Shore of Long Island, approximately 30 miles east of Midtown Manhattan. Population in this suburban setting, as at the 2020 census, is 15,000. Top leading school districts of Jericho and Syosset. Many retail and industrial businesses are located in Jericho.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Rabbi or spiritual leader within a Conservative Jewish setting or similar faith community.
Extensive knowledge of Jewish law (Halacha), customs, rituals, and traditions aligned with Conservative Judaism.
Strong background in teaching Torah, Talmud, and Jewish ethics through engaging methods suited for all ages.
Demonstrated ability in bereavement support, hospice care principles, and crisis management techniques.
Excellent communication skills—public speaking, writing, and interpersonal—to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
Experience in event planning, leadership development, mentoring emerging leaders, and conflict management strategies.

Other: The ideal candidate should have Torah reading skills to read Torah in rotation with lay leaders.
