InterfaithFamily (IFF) is seeking a new Director of Professional Development. The full-time Director of Professional Development will take over at an exciting time for InterfaithFamily and our professional development work. We’re building on the success of the Interfaith Inclusion Leadership Initiative, the development of several training resources, and demand for our resources. The Director will work with Jewish organizations and Jewish professionals to build the skills to more fully embrace interfaith couples and families. For the right person, this position offers the opportunity to impact the field, and broader Jewish community. The Director will have the opportunity to refine our offerings and methods of delivery to increase the scale and impact of our work.
The ideal candidate will be a strong facilitator, trainer and coach, have a deep understanding of the needs and experiences of Jewish interfaith couples and substantial program management experience. We are looking for a professional who has developed and run training programs in the past.
- Develop and codify institutional training programs on interfaith inclusionRefine current “menu” of offerings for professionals and organizations who are at different places in their learning
- Develop new content and curriculum to meet organizational needs
- Codify curriculum and related materials
- Develop a “train the trainer” model to expand capacity
- Implement the third cohort of InterfaithFamily’s Interfaith Inclusion Leadership Initiative (IILI).Participate in Cohort Three Launch Days of Learning in Oct and Nov 2019
- Deliver monthly curriculum and coaching sessions with 14 accepted organizations
- Determine most effective elements of the program in order to revise and scale professional development to more organizations
- Work closely with the Directors of Strategic Partnerships, Officiation Referral Service and Fellowship to identify, create and offer professional development trainings, as neededProvide workshops, coaching and mentoring for institutions, both online and in-person
- Develop/oversee the development of resources and online tools that can be used by institutions to identify and improve their “interfaith readiness”
- Respond to requests for customized trainings including from Federations and other organizations
- Lead trainings in different communities as available
- Develop the content for community convenings, as needed
- Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred
- Prior experience developing and facilitating professional development training programs
- Experience training trainers on how to offer workshops, mentoring and professional development
- A deep understanding of the needs of interfaith families and how these needs are addressed by Jewish institutions
- Social work, education, or training background a plus
- Entrepreneurial and creative thinker, ability to dig in and turn ideas into reality
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a remote work environment
- Excellent organizational skills and follow through
- Ability to adjust to dynamically changing priorities, manage multiple resources, innovate and learn new tools and processes, pitch in and “get hands dirty” in small non-profit environment
- Collaborative working style, forward thinking, detail oriented, ready to take ownership, flexible, persistent and persuasive
- Strong competency with Microsoft Office products and video conferencing technologies such as Zoom
This position reports to the Chief Program Officer. This role is national in scope, can be based anywhere in the US, and will require overnight travel on a monthly basis, as well as some work on nights and weekends.
