Overview

The Director of Programs is an integral part of the leadership and development of mission-driven programming at the PJCC. The Director of Programs provides high-level oversight of programmatic and fiscal management for program areas including the Early Childhood Education, Youth, Family, & Recreation, Cultural Arts and Adult Departments, including the Jewish Life programming within these areas. The Director of Programs is responsible for leading and providing on-going development, training and supervision of Department Directors whose programs are critical to the PJCC’s mission. The Director of Programs is responsible for developing and implementing clear action plans and systems needed to maintain, expand and build strong programs, as well as providing strategic direction and guidance to Department Directors in order to meet emerging needs in the community in innovative ways. The Director of Programs encourages innovation and builds cohesion and collaboration across supervised departmental areas and throughout the agency, and leads efforts related to program evaluation and analysis. The Director of Programs demonstrates a personal passion for human development work and dynamic community engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Programmatic and Fiscal Management

  • Supervises multiple large and dynamic programs areas, including Early Childhood Education, Youth, Family & Recreation, Cultural Arts and Adult, ensuring program excellence and innovation, compliance with best practices and/or regulations, and fiscal growth.
  • With the Chief Engagement and Innovation Officer, ensure implementation and translation of the PJCC’s overall mission and vision into programs and initiatives, creating a culture of cohesion, energy, and collaboration within the departments supervised and the organization at large.
  • Oversee and directly assist in developing and proposing departmental budgets, contracts, and financial transactions, including predictive enrollment and staffing analysis, grant tracking, and general financial oversight for all relevant departmental budgets.
  • Help to grow and strengthen the program portfolio of the supervised program areas in relation to the agency’s strategic direction and in response to the needs of the community.
  • With the Chief Engagement and Innovation Officer, help oversee community-wide mission-driven program initiatives and support the successful execution of large-scale special events, holiday celebrations, and community partnership programs.
  • With the Director of Jewish Life, ensure high-quality and meaningful Jewish education and Jewish experiences are provided within relevant program areas.

Supervision, Staff Development, and Collaboration

  • Facilitate ongoing meetings and collaborations with programmatic staff to align all programmatic departments with PJCC’s strategic goals and mission and create cohesive programming within the agency.
  • Supervise program Department Directors and/or Managers, including responsibility for unifying staff and developing a shared culture of collaboration, innovation, and creativity.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Engagement and Innovation Officer and the Human Resources Director, identify and develop ongoing professional learning for supervisees and department staff including skill building, mentoring and coaching.

Analysis and Evaluation

  • Strengthen internal communication and work collaboratively with departments throughout the agency to integrate cross-programmatic activities and functions.
  • Develop and lead program analysis efforts, including monitoring ongoing program metrics, analytics, and evaluation with both programmatic and fiscal management lenses. Develop communication tools related to evaluation findings and support program departments in responding to the data received.
  • Maintain an on-going understanding of the demographics of the North Peninsula community, and national trends in relevant program areas, in order to help shape, analyze and understand opportunities for meeting the needs of the market and/or current gaps in service.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Competencies

  • Exceptional leadership, management, supervision and motivational skills.
  • Exceptional program management and operational skills within a broad range of program areas, with a passion for innovative approaches.
  • Experience with a leadership role in a large, complex, multi-disciplinary human-services organization. Experience with programming for adults, children and/or families strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of and expertise in the areas of service delivery, program/services creation, sales, business development, customer centric operations, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Outstanding budget and fiscal management skills. Significant experience with complex budgets, including budgets of $3 million+, strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in designing, implementing and managing program metrics, evaluation, and analysis.
  • Ability to be proactive and creative in overcoming obstacles and resource constraints.
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, administration and organizational skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate, take initiative and work independently, as well as to work collaboratively across the organization.
  • Ability to relate to multiple constituencies including staff, members, community leaders and volunteers.
  • Substantial knowledge of and commitment to the Jewish community and Jewish customs and celebrations is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment, procedures, and computer software.

Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 Salary/year
