Congregation Beth Sholom, a small 70+ year old Conservative synagogue in Richland, Washington, is seeking an in-person Rabbi (Ba’al/Ba’alat Tefillah) to lead and enhance our 2023 High Holiday services consisting of Erev Rosh Hashanah, two days of Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur. We are lay-led with 40-45 member units. We have our own building and three Torahs. The synagogue is within walking distance of a comfortable hotel. We are looking for someone who knows the standard melodies or can teach us new ones. We also look forward to stimulating ideas, teaching, and sermons. Several of our members read Torah, but skills in this area would be welcome from our High Holiday Rabbi. Our members are friendly and welcoming. In the past, we have had one outstanding Rabbi for 12 consecutive years. Since his passing, we have been contracting on a yearly basis for High Holidays as well as occasional Shabbatons. Our honorarium can be supplemented with in-person or remote teaching in the intervening days between holidays or with teaching remotely in the weeks leading up to Rosh Hashanah. Any candidate with a formal ordination is welcome to apply.
