Congregation Beth Shalom of Brandon Florida is looking for a (part-time/full-time) Rabbi effective with July 1, 2020. Congregation Beth Shalom is a small congregation of 85 individual and families, located in a suburb of Tampa Florida, and are affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. We are seeking a Rabbi dedicated to Jewish values, to serve the greater Brandon and Tampa Jewish community.

The compensation package for a full-time Rabbi is $75,000 to $100,000, inclusive of, salary/parsonage, professional development, pension, relocation expenses, health insurance allowance, etc. and is commensurate with experience. For the part-time, Rabbi, the salary package is commensurate with experience and hours.

Rabbi Qualifications: a. Ability to work effectively with and utilize the talents of lay leadership b. Vision and executional strategy for growth in membership of the congregation with particular attention to reaching out to young families and families with children for the Hebrew school c. Willingness to engage in fundraising on behalf of the congregation d. Expertise in external relations for a small-sized congregation in a suburban community e. Vision for strategic engagement in community-based activities, organizations, and events f. Expertise and experience working with preschool and religious school education and working with children as well as with teens, youth groups, and NFTY g. Scholarly and leadership skills for engaging adults in Jewish growth programs h. Experience with Jewish social action organizing within congregations i. Expertise working with interfaith families educationally, programmatically and pastorally j. Openness to performing same-sex and interfaith marriages and life-cycle events k. Effective leadership skills to work with the volunteer board of directors at the congregation l. Effective management skills to work with the small, part-time staff

Congregation Beth Shalom is a vibrant, warm, and growing Reform synagogue. As the only Reform synagogue in the Greater Brandon area, we provide a home for Jews, interfaith and LGBTQ families of all ages and backgrounds. As a small and diverse congregation, we value the contribution and participation of each individual member and rejoice in the fullness and diversity that exists in Jewish families today.

a. Conduct him/herself with personal integrity and Jewish values

b. Appreciate the diversity of our community in terms of our Jewish knowledge, faith, beliefs, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, and backgrounds

c. Follow the principles and values of Reform Judaism in his/her own life

d. Perform pastoral skills-life cycle events, forming close relationships with congregants and counseling

e. Be approachable and flexible while creating a cohesive unity for our congregation

f. Have Ritual expertise; e.g., liturgical knowledge, sermon writing, and sermonizing

g. Read Torah at Friday Shabbat services

h. Creatively nurture the spiritual growth of our members

i. Have expertise in external relations, activities in the community

j. Have expertise and experience in preschool and religious school education and working with children as well as with teens, youth groups, and NFTY

k. Reflect scholarly skills for adult Jewish growth

l. Have social action experience and expertise

m. Have expertise in dealing with interfaith families educationally, programmatically and pastorally

n. Be open-minded and appreciative of the diversity in all aspects of our congregation

o. Be open to performing gay and interfaith marriages

p. Have skills in board/staff relations

q. Be able to work with and use the talents of our lay leadership

r. Experience or training in assisting the congregation to become more robust in our membership, especially in the demographic of families with young children

s. Willingness to assist with Fundraisig

Benefits:

The compensation package for a full-time Rabbi is $75,000 to $100,000, inclusive of, salary/parsonage, professional development, pension, relocation expenses, health insurance allowance, etc. and is commensurate with experience.
