San Luis Obispo is located equidistant from Los Angeles and San Francisco, in the heart of a world-class wine and produce region, with beautiful countryside and the Pacific coast minutes away. The city attracts people from all over the world and is frequently listed among the top small cities for quality of life, with clean air, low crime rates, and few traffic headaches. San Luis Obispo is the commercial, governmental and cultural hub of California’s Central Coast, in a county with a population of 280,000. Our highly educated population combined with California Polytechnic State University and Cuesta College results in a small town of around 50,000 (plus students). Our county offers many big city amenities such as theater, opera, museums, and a symphony, while remaining rural enough to boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails, seven state parks, and numerous opportunities for outdoor activities from our beautiful beaches and local mountains. With our excellent public schools, including both California Distinguished Schools and Blue Ribbon school award winners, and exceptional healthcare, it is no wonder San Luis Obispo is considered one of the happiest places in the US.

About Congregation Beth David of San Luis Obispo, California
We are a 160-family Reform synagogue affiliated with the URJ and were established in 1959. We have activities for all ages and open our beautiful LEED Certified synagogue for Jewish and community-wide organizations, including the JCC Federation of San Luis Obispo, which is housed in our building. We strive to have all programing multi-access during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to weekly Erev Shabbat services and Saturday morning Torah study, we typically hold 50 adult education programs per year. We enjoy our beautiful location by having our youth group lead summer services on the beach. It’s easy to be inspired when worship takes place near the surf line! We are an inclusive congregation with a diverse membership made up of singles, traditional and nontraditional families, and many non-Jewish partners. Our members are actively involved in the synagogue, the greater Jewish community, and the community-at-large. http://www.bethdavidslo.org
