Overview

Beth Sholom seeks a Director of Congregational Learning and Programming.  This is a full-time position in which the individual works in coordination with the Rabbi, Executive Director, and lay leadership to (1) provide a warm, inviting shul experience for our members; and (2) meet the educational and programming needs of the membership.

The ideal candidate will be an MA-level Jewish educator or a BA-level educator with equivalent experience who is engaging, innovative, organized, and has strong communication skills. We seek someone who is a leader and excited about being a part of the leadership team of Beth Sholom. The ability to formally and informally connect with individuals and families is key, as is promoting events and programs within the synagogue and the larger community.

S/he will serve in a planning and supervising capacity and must be willing to be “hands-on” to ensure that programs are successful.

Responsibilities:

Youth/Family Education and General Programming – Works in conjunction with the VP of Education and the Youth and Family Commission to:

*Oversee religious school, including implementing Hebrew/religious curriculum and hiring, training and supervising teachers

*Teach as needed

*Coordinate Shabbat experience for youth and families

*Create and manage the budget for youth education and programming

*Coordinate the Bar/Bat Mitzvah process for families

*Supervise youth groups

*Develop teen programming

*Develop and coordinate family educational and holiday programming

Adult Education and Programming – Works in conjunction with the Rabbi, VP of Education, and Adult Education Committee to:

*Create an array of programs that meet the adult congregants’ Jewish education    needs

*Teach as needed

*Ensure that programs are publicized

*Seek opportunities for local and national grants to secure additional resources for programming

*Ensure successful creation and implementation of congregational events

Masters in related field or equivalent experience

Position Start Date: July 1, 2018
Salary Range: $40,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience
