Overview
Initiates and develops a mutual and empathic relationship with the resident, family, and/or staff to provide spiritual support
Visits newly admitted residents and residents with special requests
Provides spiritual/religious resources, e.g., sacred texts, Shabbat candles, music, etc.
Schedules and plans Christian worship for holidays and assists with scheduling Jewish worship with Life Enrichment staff
Arranges for special programming with Life Enrichment staff involving the collaboration with area synagogues, churches, and other institutions
Provides spiritual evaluation and visitation for all residents, assessing resident and family needs by gathering data pertinent to the resident’s/families/staff’s situation and/or bio-psycho-social-spiritual/religious health
Provides crisis intervention
Offers a variety of spiritual counseling and education such as Bible/Torah study, Values-Based Learning, and Ask the Clergy
Schedule, officiate, and/or attend memorial services for staff and residents upon request
Offers spiritual care and counsel to residents, families, and staff with specific attention to illness, trauma, stress, grief, and end of life presence
Actively collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team as it relates to decisions that can affect spiritual care or needs
Respects the confidentiality of information from all sources, including the resident, medical record, other team members, and family members
Supervises Clinical Pastoral Education Intern
Provides care to the organization highlighting and educating staff regarding Jewish values and mission statement
Builds relationships with local faith communities and their leaders on behalf of the organization
Performs other duties as assigned
Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Religion, or Master of Pastoral Counseling from an accredited school of theology or Ordination
Interpersonal and communication skills to work with the distressed and anxious resident, families, and employees
Empathy and analytical ability to assess resident spiritual needs and sense of well-being
