Overview

Am Kolel, an independent Jewish Renewal Community based in the DC area is seeking a director for our Judaic Resource Center.  The position involves meeting the spiritual and lifecycle needs of the non-affiliated,  organizing education programs, providing Judaic support and resources to Jewish and non-Jewish institutions.

Type of service are you envisioning: We want a Rabbi, Cantor or educator who is also an organizer.
How do you do Jewish : Transdenominational. Closest to Reconstructionist and Renewal models.
Event date : We would like to begin position in July.
Why you need a rabbi: To develop and expand our role in meeting needs in the Jewish community.
Timing Expectations: The position can be part time or full time. Weekends commitments are essential to positions; weekday times are negotiable.
Rabbi Qualifications: Semicha is required from programs recognized by Aleph.
Community Description:

Am Kolel is a Jewish community dedicated to meeting unmet needs in the Jewish community and responding to social issues with a progressive voice. Founded in 1990 by Rabbi David Shneyer, Am Kolel also operates the Sanctuary Retreat Center in rural Montgomery County. Affiliated with Aleph, Am Kolel also has incubated other organizations such as Jewish United for Justice and the Olney Kehilah.

Qualifications:

We are seeking a Rabbi or Cantor who is joyful, inclusive, musical, has a social entrepreneurial spirit, who is enthusiastic,  is competent with a computer, can design newsletters and flyers, is a team worker, committed to Jewish prophetic and progressive values and loves to dance with Torah.
